1 The tenses change into the past form of the particular verb form in the direct speech (Времена меняются в прошлое определенной формы глагола в прямой речи).
2 The pronouns change to refer to the person saying the speech and others in the speech, e.g. Sam said, «You are my friend.» -> Sam told me that I was his friend (Местоимения меняются, ссылаясь на личность, озвучивающую речь, и других в речи, напр. Сэм сказал «Ты мой друг» -> Сэм сказал мне, что я был его лучшим другом).
2 said and told. Said is used when the person spoken to is not mentioned (Сказал и рассказал. Сказал используется, когда личность обращается к кому-то неопределенному).
3 A positive command is reported using to + infinitive verb. A negative command is reported using not to + infinitive verb (Положительная команда становится косвенной, используя to + инфинитив. Отрицательная команда становится косвенной, используя not to + инфинитив).
4 Time Expressions change in reported speech according to the meaning of the sentence.

yesterday -> the day before, the previous day
tomorrow -> the next day, the following day
next week -> the week after, the following week
