Russia, also officially known as the Russian Federation is a country in northern Eurasia. Russia is the largest country in the world: its total area is 17, 1 square kilometers. The capital of Russia is Moscow. The territory of the Russian Federation is divided into republics, krais, oblasts and okrugs. The population of Russia is about 150 million people. But not only Russians live in our country: there are more than 160 ethnic groups. The most numerous of them are Tatar, Ukrainian, Bashkir, Chuvash, Armenian, Azerbaijani and Belarussian. Russia’s ethnic groups speak more than 100 languages, although Russian is the official language of the Russian Federation.
